Do you do Messy Church, Sunday group or other children's activities? Do you want children to grow in faith and spirituality? Would you like to discover new and effective ways of working?

This child-centred course for those working with 3-11s will develop vision, purpose, energy and confidence.  A number of threads will weave their way throughout the modules including, creative activities, listening to children, Godly play, reflection, sharing together and fun!

Leading to…

This course trains those already doing children’s work and could also provide a strong basis for a higher level qualification.

Further information

The Church in the UK is seeing a wonderful rise in numbers of children and families joining local churches through initiatives like Messy Church and Godly Play. These often stand alongside long-running Sunday school groups and midweek activities. This course aims to equip and resource those called to children’s ministry in whatever shape it comes.

There are no academic pre-requisites although each student will be expected to have the full support of their local church, and a member of their church should act as their supervisor.

Course outline and qualification

Students can work towards a St Peter's College Certificate in Children's Ministry by writing a number of assignments to academic level 3 or 4 (equivalent to A-Level and first year degree).  Those based in Anglican settings may seek the Bishop's Authorisation as Children's Ministers in their parish.

  • Module 1 -  Children’s Ministry & the Children’s Leader
  • Module 2 - Understanding Children & Children’s Ministry Practice
  • Module 3 - Managing the Ministry
