“It is possible to encounter God in many ways… encountering God is easy – it is following Christ afterwards that is the problem.” Eduardo Bonnin – Cursillo Founder

If we are to be effective in God’s mission to change the world, we ourselves must be renewed people. The 3-day Cursillo weekend offers a life-changing experience through which God inspires, renews and challenges us.

The name Cursillo, pronounced ‘koor-see-yo’ derives from the Spanish “Cursillos de Christiandad” meaning ‘short courses in Christian Living’.

Cursillo is a rather wonderful movement that is lay and clergy led and promotes a rather simple manner of Christian discipleship - Prayer/Study/Action.

I have never felt so loved, so prayed for, and so bathed in God's Spirit as I did on my Cursillo weekend. Quite simply, it changed my life and totally transformed my relationship with God.  Sally

What others say about the Cursillo weekend

Leading to…

Cursillo is about making disciples. Christians are empowered to grow through prayer, study and action and enabled to share God’s love with everyone.

Commitment and requirements

Cursillo takes place over a 3-day weekend.  After the weekend there is an opportunity of continuing your involvement by joining a small group where the emphasis is for sharing where you have each met God in the 3 elements - prayer, study and action.

The opportunity for helping with future weekends helps to further develop both leadership and team working skills.

Pre-requisites

There are no academic or educational requirements.  Everyone who shares communion in the Church of England is welcome to come on our Cursillo weekends.

Outline

Cursillo covers three main areas:

  1. Seek First the Kingdom of God - Cursillo’s vision is of a world transformed by the love of God - nothing less than the kingdom of God on earth.
  2. The Yeast In The Dough - Cursillo is founded on the belief that radical change for good is possible within any aspect of human life through the action of relatively small numbers of Christian people who work with dedication and commitment to bring about such change, relying on the guidance and empowering of the Holy Spirit.
  3. Renewed People, Renewed World - If we are to be effective in God’s mission to change the world (in accordance with his values), we ourselves must be renewed people.

Cost

£150 to cover food and accommodation.
