For those working with children or vulnerable adults in the church
Safeguarding training appropriate to your role is essential and the Diocese of Sheffield follows the Church of England’s ‘Safeguarding Learning and Development Framework’.
This course is led by our Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor and should be repeated at least every three years to act as a reminder and to update you with regard to changes in legislation and guidelines.
This is for leaders of children and adult activities, parish safeguarding officers and leads, pre-ordination people, curates and newly licensed or authorised lay leaders.
Learning aims are to equip parish officers to embed healthy parish safeguarding practice and respond well to safeguarding situations.
There are no academic or educational requirements. For the role of Parish Safeguarding Officer you would ideally be from a background where safeguarding is important such as child care or teaching.
Safeguarding training is currently offered free of charge.
Safeguarding training may well be included as part of other training courses or processes so please check. Places on training courses are limited so booking your place is essential – please obtain an application form by contacting Trish Stafford:
Sue Lamprell, Training Administrator: Sue.Lamprell@sheffield.anglican.org 01709 309147
Training could take place in various locations around the diocese.
