Mental Health within a church context
18th May 2019
The study day aims to provide basic mental health awareness to members of church communities.
Training Dates for 2019
The 'Mental Health Awareness' (formerly known as Mental Health: Challenge or Opportunity) study day has been running since 2011. It was commissioned by Bishop Steven Croft in response to evidence that church communities frequently support people with mental health problems but, generally, have little or no training to help them to do so.
The study day aims to provide basic mental health awareness to members of church communities. It includes sessions on the common mental health conditions and common presentations in church communities, as well as suggesting ways to deal with situations which may arise.
The day is designed and run by mental health professionals, clergy, lay volunteers and people with experience of mental health difficulties.
A second session will be held in September/October 2019 - details to follow.
9.30 to 16.00
