Michelle's Story

Michelle's Story

I started my training as a pastoral worker in 2013.  I wanted to be able to develop my skills to serve my local community as well as my Church family.  The School of Ministry allowed me to deepen my faith and strengthen my relationship with God, supported by the staff and my fellow students.

Since being licensed as a pastoral worker, I have set up a team, from all groups of the Church.  We act as a focus and lead for pastoral work, trying to ensure that the whole Church is involved. We have set up a shared area in Dropbox for administration and have regular meetings.

More personally, I am in the process of setting up various groups, to aid in the growth of the church as a community, such as a lunch group once a month after the 11am service.  I have trained as a Mental Health First Aider at work and combine those skills with my pastoral worker skills to run a Mindfulness study group at work.  I am in the process of transferring this to my Church, with the help of a friend, we will be setting up a Mindfulness group based around prayer.

I would recommend the School of Ministry to anyone who feels called to ministry, whether as a pastoral worker, reader or evangelist.  If you feel called to serve and be part of God’s kingdom on earth then the School of Ministry is for you.
